FOOTPATH
2017 - 2020
Concrete, porcelain, 24k gold, river stones
Footpath is an instillation that has recurred throughout my career. It has occupied multiple locations; in exhibition settings and outside in the landscape. It was also included as part of my solo show at Dominik Mersch Gallery, Sydney. Footpath contains impressions of ecological and social footprints. As in all my works, Footpath began with walking, observing subtleties and contemplating our place.

I made over 500 porcelain bones. Many snapped in the kiln. These fractures were mended with Kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending broken ceramics with gold. The dimensions of this work vary depending upon its which iteration. On average it was 800cm x 300cm.
